About:
Hi everyone
My name is Roger Sutcliffe and you elected me as your Mansfield Independent Forum member for the Lindhurst Ward at the May 2011 Council elections.
I currently hold the Cabinet position of Portfolio for Resources which deals with all aspects of Council finances. I am also the Deputy Mayor.
I have lived in the Lindhurst Ward, on Lindhurst Lane since 1980 and have now represented the Lindhurst Ward since 2003. In that time there have been many changes to the Ward not least being the boundary change in 2011. This change took away the Bellamy Road estate and Rainworth and in it’s place I gained Bramble Lane area, part of Big Barn Lane, part of Oak Tree Lane and Ryedale Avenue area including the Mansfield Way [old mineral line]. Previously a vast amount of my time was spent raising the profile of the Bellamy Road estate, dealing with the on going problems and driving the introduction of the first new Council house building programme in Mansfield for 34 years.
I am eager to respond to the requests of my new and old constituents in the new Lindhurst Ward to make our Ward a flagship Ward of the future. I cannot do this without your input and assistance.
Every week I endeavour to drive, cycle, run or walk around the Ward and many of you see me and many wave or call when you see me out running. If you need to chat there and then call me across .Your concerns are my concerns , I am here to help.
To keep you up to date on things that are happening or have happened on the Ward I intend to update the web site on a 3 month basis. Any contributions from my readers will be welcomed. At present I am endeavouring to get an interactive speed sign on Southwell Road West for east bound traffic speed reduction. This will initially be a temporary sign with the intention of a permanent one if it proves successful. However NCC progresses very slowly on issues such as this. A much faster result came from the request for MDC to do a litter pick on Adamsway and pruning the shrubs on the Adamsway traffic island to improve pedestrian visibility. Both items are completed. I am attempting to get a large litter bin installed on the Mansfield Way between Briar Lane and Oak Tree Lane. Nearly there with this project. I am working with our neighbourhood warden Mark , to get a litter pick and tidy up on Acorn Way and the surrounding area. Negotiations are on going with the developers and MDC. I recently made a donation to a local football team who play on King George V playing fields for them to buy some new kit. Discussions with our neighbourhood warden have now led to him making regular patrols on the old mineral line, Mansfield Way, in an attempt to end the problems of dog fouling and anti social behaviour by some school children.
If you have any areas you wish me to address please contact me on one of the above options. I WILL get back to you but as I am out and about most days I may be unable to speak to you immediately so if you phone it will probably be my answerphone but I will call you back if you leave a number.
Kind regards
Roger Sutcliffe
